Labor of Love: A PhotoVoice Project

What is PhotoVoice

PhotoVoice is a Participatory Action Research approach that utilizes the power of photography & critical group dialogue to reveal the everyday realities, needs, & expertise of communities to help advocate for positive change.

About the Project

In the spring of 2021, the Labor of Love PhotoVoice Project began when a group of social work Ph.D. students partnered with members of the Peer Network to shine a light on the lifesaving efforts of Peer Workers who provided harm reduction outreach throughout the onset of the pandemic in NYC.

What did we find

We analyzed the data (photographs taken by the peer researchers & our collective narrative reflections) to identify themes that need action & support. We created the photos & videos below to share these findings.
